Wedding planners, coordinators, managers, designers or whatever you want to call them wear many many hats. In my years of planning weddings I have been the DJ and had to make annoucements during the reception, I have been a witness when the witness was not available to sign the wedding license, I have repaired cakes and made boquets. Yet one wedding I was also a nurse.
I had a breide who was SO sick at her wedding, she had gotten some sort of food poisoning or stomach flu. Yet the show must go on. It did not really hit her until she was at the venue getting ready. So my duty was to make sure that she stayed hydrated and didn’t get vomit on her dress. Of course she had a huge ballgown style dress that was a challenge to get out of her way. My fix for this was I ran to the local hardware store down the steet and got really big plastic garbage bags. When she felt like she was going to throw up I ripped a hole in the bottom and we slid the bag over her and her gown. It worked great!! So I was following her around while taking pictures as she is vomiting into bushes and behind rocks. I was also touching up her makeup after each sick session. Thankfully she made it through the ceremony yet I had a trash can hidden behind the officiant in case she needed it. Then thankfully at the reception she did start to feel a little bit better. She did not get to eat any of her food or cake but thats ok we boxed up some for her to have later at the hotel if she was feeling better.
This was the only time I have had a sick bride yet I have had a groomsman pass out during a ceremony, don’t lock your knees and I have dealt with many a hung over bridal party. Be aware how much people are drinking at the rehersal dinner we have seen so many hung over people at weeddings and it does not look great for pictures. So just remember when your hiring a planner you are hiring someone with the skills to take care of a multitude of challenges that can arise at a wedding. Another thing to consider is wedding insurance. There are companoies that will cover the cost of your deposits and such if the wedding needs to be cencelled last minute. Excluding the bride and groom breaking up. It’s not very expensive and it’s a good piece of mind because we all know with the Covid shutdown you never know what might arise.
